Airports can be pretty boring, or at least that's what most people think. This is especially true when you are a tourist in a foreign country, and the long lines and unending interrogations add to the seriousness of being at a foreign airport.
However, one comic decided to change the dreary airport routine at an airport in Greece to play a prank on the travelers and airport management. An unidentified British prankster takes the microphone of the flight and announces that the flight has been canceled. Last Friday, an unknown British tourist pranked the passengers at Zakynthos airport, Greece.
The passengers were all set to take off from Greece to the United Kingdom. Out of nowhere, they heard the announcement that their flight was canceled - for no reason. Following the announcement, a mass panic prevailed among the British passengers. Thus, the security of the Zakynthos airport became mobilized and escorted the British tourist. Upon investigation, it turned out that the unidentified tourist was joking with his fellow British passengers.
The Prankster Finds Himself in Hot Water
Initially, a fair-haired young British boy, wearing sunglasses, leaned into the microphone of the airport and made a false announcement. “We are sorry! The flight to Gatwick has been canceled,” said the false announcement. While this created a mass panic among the British passengers, another false announcement followed. The following announcement said that the “flight to Birmingham” had also been delayed for seven hours. This is where the British prankster found himself in hot water.
The problem was that on this Friday, as the false announcement was being made, there were no flights to Birmingham. This is where the prankster feels that he messed up. His fellow passengers held their breaths as they tried to understand the matter. How on Earth could the flights be canceled when there are no flights to Birmingham in the first place? The prankster did not stop here - he also announced that the flight to Manchester had also been canceled.
The British Tourist Was released After A Brief Interrogation
Following this mass panic, the security of Zakynthos airport stepped in and escorted the prankster. Upon interrogation, it turned out that this ‘British lad’ was joking with his fellow passengers.
A short clip of the incident is making social media rounds, detailing the Zakynthos airport prank. The video caption reads that the British prankster was released later, and it is claimed that once the security realized that it was all a joke, they laughed hysterically. (On a side note, Greeks have a great sense of humor. This British lad would have found himself in trouble, had this happened in other countries.)
However, the prankster was not allowed back on the plane following the interrogation. He was released “safely” after a brief interrogation. Later on, the prankster was seen apologizing to his fellow passengers while they shook their heads in disbelief.
