Many films and TV shows will leave an impression on viewers, not for their intriguing storylines or surprising twists but for the steamy make-out sessions between their favorite Hollywood stars. Sometimes, the timing is just right,
the music in the background is exquisite and the pieces fall perfectly into place as the male and female protagonists triumphantly share a passionate kiss on the small screen.
In other instances, however, an unexpected snog between two characters can leave the viewers with a bad taste in their mouth, Today, we have rounded up some of the most infamous TV kisses that fans absolutely hated.
“Buffy the Vampire Slayer”
“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” aired at a time when the idea of queer couples in film and on TV was quite rare. Thus, it did not come as a shock that fans really took to the relationship of Willow Rosenberg and Tara Maclay but just when fans were rooting for the couple to take the next step in their romance, Maclay’s unexpected murder was not only a painful experience for Rosenberg but the viewers too.
While Rosenberg seemingly moved on and eventually found love again in the arms of Kennedy, a vampire slayer, the fans, however, did not. Fans disapproved of the duo’s union due to their different personalities and were absolutely livid when the two shared their first on-screen snog.
“Game of Thrones”
From scenes depicting unclothed actors and brutal mass killings to controversial moments of incestual relationships between siblings, “Game of Thrones” has it all. Ironically enough, it was an innocent kiss between the show’s two protagonists that really sent the fans over the edge.
In one of the most highly-anticipated moments of modern television, the Mother of Dragons finally had her meeting with the King in the North. However, fans’ jubilation quickly turned to despair when the two developed a mutual attraction and locked lips (spoiler alert: they would do much more than just lock lips later on!). What makes this unconventional pairing even harder to digest is the fact that the two are, in fact, aunt and nephew. Jeez.
“Grey’s Anatomy”
“Grey’s Anatomy” might have made a name for itself as a series geared towards women and fueled by gossip and romance, but that didn’t make it immune to backlash from fans after an on-screen kiss. In most cases, taking friendship to the next level and becoming romantic partners really strikes a chord with viewers. Other times, however, it’s a mistake.
After developing a close bond, Doctor Izzie Stevens and Doctor George O’Malley ruin their seemingly perfect friendship by falling for each other. To make matters worse, O’Malley even divorces his wife after his one-night-stand with Dr. Stevens, which meant that fans really did not take kindly to this unnecessary pairing that was merely created to boost the show’s TV ratings.
